Getting there: compare the whole journey
Check the airport code before paying. Cebu Pacific says its Cebgo and AirSWIFT flights previously operating from Manila moved to Clark (CRK) on March 29, 2026. This advisory covers the group’s El Nido and Coron/Busuanga services, among other routes. A connection through Manila is not automatically a connection through the same airport. [1]
From July 1, 2026, AirSWIFT services operate under Cebgo flight codes (DG). The airline identifies Clark to El Nido and links from El Nido to destinations including Cebu, Bohol and Coron. Check actual availability for your date rather than assuming a route operates at a convenient time every day. [2]
Reaching El Nido
A flight into El Nido avoids the long transfer from Puerto Princesa. Compare its complete fare, baggage and transfer costs with the alternative of flying into Puerto Princesa and continuing by road. Travel Palawan describes the shared-van journey as approximately 5 to 6 hours, with stops; its listed El Nido terminal is in Corong Corong, so the final trip to your hotel may still be separate. For planning, treat the Puerto Princesa route as a travel day, not a guaranteed half-day before a boat tour. An inexpensive flight can become less attractive after adding the van, baggage, meals in transit and a late hotel arrival.
Reaching Coron
For Coron, arrange a transfer from Busuanga Airport to the correct accommodation. One transport provider schedules approximately 45 minutes to Coron town. A remote Busuanga property or an island resort may require a different transfer entirely; ask the hotel for its complete arrival instructions. [4]
Choose the easier destination only after comparing door-to-door journeys from your own starting point. Include any Manila-to-Clark transfer, airport waiting time, hotel transport and the departure airport for the trip home.
El Nido at a glance
El Nido works especially well for a trip built around Bacuit Bay. Operators commonly organize island-hopping routes as Tours A, B, C and D: Tour A emphasizes lagoon-and-beach stops, B includes caves and sandbar scenery, C goes toward outer-island beaches, and D focuses on the Cadlao area. The letter is a starting point, not a guarantee of every stop. [5]
Check the named itinerary before booking. For example, the cited Tour A listing includes Big Lagoon, while the route guide places Small Lagoon on Tour D. Do not assume that one ticket includes both. Ask which entries, reservations, rental gear and hotel transfers are included. [5][9]
Where to base yourself: Compare the hotel’s address with the operator’s meeting point. A quieter stay outside the central departure area may suit your trip, but transfer charges can matter. The quoted Tour A provider charges separately for some hotel pick-ups, rather than including every El Nido address. [9]
Coron at a glance
Coron town and Coron Island are not the same place. Coron town is on Busuanga and serves as a departure base. Boat excursions reach Coron Island’s lakes and lagoons. Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake and Twin Lagoon are distinct stops, so compare the actual itinerary rather than relying on labels such as “ultimate.” [6]
A lake-and-lagoon day and a beach-island day give different experiences. For example, the cited beach tour visits Malcapuya, Bulog Dos and Ditaytayan rather than repeating the lakes. It can be a useful second day for travelers who are not diving. [12]
Coron is also home to Tagbanua communities whose rules and access arrangements should be respected. Follow the guide’s instructions, pay the applicable entry charges and do not assume every lake, shore or viewpoint is open for independent access. [6]
Which is better for diving and snorkeling?
For a wreck-focused scuba trip, our recommendation is Coron. PADI’s Coron listings describe Japanese WWII wrecks and dedicated wreck-diver training. Wreck depth, visibility, overhead areas and your certification all matter. Being able to book a dive does not make every wreck or interior suitable for your experience. [8]
El Nido also has worthwhile scuba diving. PADI describes reef gardens, drop-offs and several types of dive sites. Choose it for a reef-focused day alongside island hopping, rather than treating it as a destination only for surface activities. Site selection and conditions should be discussed with a local dive professional. [7]
For snorkeling, compare the planned stops, guide support, equipment and your comfort in the water. A lake tour, lagoon-kayaking day and reef-snorkeling trip are not interchangeable. For the quoted El Nido operator, the environmental payment is valid for 10 days, so retain the receipt rather than automatically adding it again for a second tour inside that period. Its Tour A listing also quotes ₱350 per kayak and ₱150 per mask-and-snorkel set. Ask whether the kayak size fits your group and whether rentals are priced per unit or per person. [9]

Replace the assumed room and food amounts with your own quotes. The different tour selections mean these subtotals do not establish that one destination is generally cheaper.
For the El Nido example, the quoted environmental fee plus Big Lagoon and Matinloc fees add ₱800 per person, assuming both visits proceed and you have no applicable exemption or discount. Two ₱150 mask rentals plus half of one ₱350 shared kayak add another ₱475. That makes ₱10,835 per person before flights, ground transport and contingency. A solo traveler cannot divide a private-room charge by two. A diver should replace a snorkeling-tour line with an actual dive-shop quote, not assume the same price. For families, confirm age bands, room occupancy, child-sized life jackets and the price for each traveler.
Doing both: the El Nido to Coron crossing
A direct ferry avoids returning through a mainland flight hub, but it still uses a travel day. Atienza’s published timetable shows El Nido to Coron at 12:30 p.m., arriving 4:30 p.m., and Coron to El Nido at 7:00 a.m., arriving 11:00 a.m. The operator lists a four-hour crossing and asks passengers to be at the port at least two hours before departure. Check the actual date, departure pier, baggage allowance, port charges and cancellation policy before paying. Reconfirm with the operator before traveling to the port. We recommend staying overnight at your departure destination before an important onward flight rather than relying on a same-day ferry connection.
A multi-day expedition is a different trip, not a faster ferry. Buhay Isla advertises three-, four- and five-day formats between the two destinations. Compare accommodation, meals, baggage, water activities and contingency arrangements separately from a passenger-ferry ticket. [15]
