The Cebu South Bus Terminal is the starting point for almost every south-Cebu beach trip that does not begin with a private van. Moalboal, Oslob, and the land-plus-ferry path toward Siquijor all leave from the same building — and they do not leave on the same bus.

Why This Terminal Needs Its Own Guide
Searchers type the building, then the beach. A Moalboal hotel page will say “take the bus from Cebu.” It will not tell you that Bato via Oslob will dump you on the wrong coast. That is the gap.
Where the Terminal Actually Is
Cebu South Bus Terminal sits on Natalio Bacalso Avenue in Cebu City, on the old railway depot site, between the Region 7 LTFRB office and the southbound highway. If a Grab pin or a hotel receptionist sends you to the North Terminal by SM City Cebu, turn around. That building serves northern Cebu, Camotes via Danao, and Bantayan via Hagnaya — the opposite direction.
Build a buffer if you are coming from Mactan with luggage. Traffic on N. Bacalso is not theoretical, and the first useful Oslob departure for a whale-shark slot leaves early.
The One Rule That Matters: Two Buses Both Say Bato
Bato is a port town at the southern tip of Cebu. Both coastal highways end there, which is why the destination board looks identical. Confirm with the conductor before you sit down. Say the actual place, not the town at the end of the line: “Moalboal,” “Tan-awan, whale shark,” “Badian / Kawasan.”

Cebu to Moalboal
Moalboal is the west-coast dive and sardine-run town. From CSBT the ride is about 90 kilometers and usually takes 2.5 to 4 hours. Board a Ceres air-con marked Bato via Barili. First useful departures start around 3:00–5:00 a.m., and buses keep rolling through the evening. Fare on recent boards sits in a ₱150–₱220 band depending on ordinary versus air-con and the day’s fuel sheet.
Get off at the Moalboal bus stop on the national highway, not in Bato. A tricycle into Panagsama or Basdaku is the last mile.
Cebu to Oslob
The stop you actually want is Tan-awan, the briefing area for the whale-shark interaction — not Oslob poblacion. Board Bato via Oslob. Ceres runs this corridor from very early morning so visitors can make a dawn slot. Tell the conductor “Tan-awan, whale shark” when you board and again as you get close. There is no reliable ATM at the interaction site.
The Siquijor Connection
From CSBT you can thread south to Liloan or Bato, cross to Negros (Sibulan or Tampi), ride into Dumaguete, and take a fast craft to Siquijor. That is a travel day. No. SM City Cebu sits next to the North Bus Terminal. CSBT is on N. Bacalso Avenue. Using the wrong one is the most expensive mistake in this guide because you only find out after the Grab has already dropped you.
Can I pay with a card or GCash on the bus?
Plan on cash. Some booths accept e-wallets on a good day. The conductor on a 3:00 a.m. Ceres run will not.
Do I need to book CSBT buses online?
